To make the activities of the CGH known outside of the university and provide the general public with news updates, the CGH stages the “Go Global!! International Medical Symposium” 2 or 3 times a year. Attendance each time is anywhere between 100 and 200 persons, but as a testimony to the expanding interest in international healthcare, every symposium draws participants not only from educational and medical circles but from very diverse backgrounds in the private and public sectors, which increasingly animates the discussion and exchange of opinions.
Moreover, because it adds to the effort the CGH is making to build an academic network in the global health field, some of the Go Global!! symposia are staged jointly or with the backing of other universities and medical organizations that are promoting global health, governmental agencies in Japan and diplomatic offices abroad. OU’s connections and offices overseas are also used to host the symposium in order to explain to other countries what Japan is doing to deliver high quality healthcare and medical education
